New Year’s Morning

Today is the start of a brand new year. It’s a clean slate, a new beginning, a day full of hope and promise for so many people.

The irony though is that it’s just another morning…

Night faded to day just like it does every 24 hours but we put special emphasis on this one.

I love New Years, and milestones, and goals, and resolutions, and fresh starts. But the reality is that there’s really nothing different than a morning six weeks ago or six months from now. The same hope and joy we all feel with new years is available to us every single day.

“The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases;
His mercies never come to an end;
They are new every morning;
Great is your faithfulness.”

-Lamentations 3:22-23

The newness of New Years can be ours every morning. Every day that we wake up it’s an opportunity to start fresh and experience God’s love anew.

This year I want to take time experiencing his love in new ways in the mornings. I want to sit for longer at my kitchen table with a french press, my Bible, and a journal. I want to experience more sunrises and breathe in more fresh morning air.

I want more mornings that feel like New Year’s morning.
